CBS Sports is currently seeking a self-motivated IT
Support Technician to join our
Information Systems & Technology department on a
freelance, per diem, basis. This
position provides support Saturday and Sunday’s between
the approximate hours of
9AM and 7PM from August through April in support of the
CBS Networks’ Sports studio
and its’ related broadcast IT infrastructure. Travel to
major sporting events such as the
AFC Championship, Final Four, US Open, and Super Bowl
might also be requested if
availability permits.
We service approximately 150 broadcast related computers
running Windows XP and
Apple OSX and are responsible for supporting up to 13
crews working in the field each
weekend to produce live event coverage. Our ideal
candidate will be eager to maximize
this opportunity to work with our growing array of
state-of-the-art hardware and software
technologies.
Job
Responsibilities
· Provide tier-one technical support and guidance to
internal and remote users;
· Escalate complex technical issues to appropriate
internal resources;
· Monitor various network applications and servers while
the studio is on-air;
· Provide data entry when required to update information
contained within
proprietary databases.
· Deploy patches and upgrades to network hardware and
software;
· Troubleshoot and develop solutions to hardware and
software configuration
errors;
· Troubleshoot computer peripherals;
· Deploy, repair, and maintain client machines;
· Occasionally contribute to off-hours systems
maintenance;
· Perform other duties as assigned;
Candidate
Requirements
· Ability to independently travel to and from midtown
Manhattan reliably and on
time, regardless of weather or other circumstances, on
weekends and during
non-peak hours;
· Associate’s degree or better in an IT related
discipline with 0-2 years of
experience;
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications;
· Proficient in Windows XP and Windows Vista;
· Effective written and verbal communication skills;
· Experience with troubleshooting computer hardware;
· Knowledge and understanding of Active Directory;
· Must be able to lift and carry objects of up to 70lbs
in weight;
MUST
BE AVAILABLE TO WORK WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS WHEN TELEVISED
SPORTING COMPETITIONS ARE BEING BROADCAST ON CBS
(typically every
weekend from August through April).
Candidate
Pluses
· Knowledge and understanding of Sports (NCAA
football/basketball, and NFL
football)
· Knowledge of the Dalet Plus broadcast automation
system;
· Knowledge of BDL prompting systems;
· Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP;
· Experience with Windows 7;
· Experience with Windows Server (2003+) platforms;
· Knowledge of Microsoft WSUS;
· Experience with FTP, and IIS;
· Work experience elsewhere with the broadcast industry
and/or publically traded
company;
· Certifications (A+, MCSA, CCNE, SBE CBNT, etc);

operation and help support its production
team.
As a freelance IT Support Technician you will report
directly to the Sr. Technical
Engineer, Broadcast Operations and work alongside another
freelance IT Support
Technician and Technical Engineer, Broadcast Operations.
