Senior Engineering Technician

Responsibilities:

  • Perform exception based service and proactive service of broadcast and post production systems in a timely fashion.

  • Perform component and board level repair of broadcast and   post production equipment

  • Perform complex alignment and tests of broadcast and   post production equipment

  • Ultimately responsible for service of systems and equipment insuring continued serviceability to the internal clients, implementing projects, designs and technology successfully.

  • Installation and wiring of broadcast and post production   systems

  • Perform fabrication of interconnect cables, enclosures, consoles and racks

  • When needed participate in equipment evaluation, selection and testing.

  • Provide technical expertise as key stakeholder for various systems and equipment.  Provide training and mentoring to others.

  • Interface with other departments, vendors, suppliers, contractors and others at all levels.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience with installing, trouble shooting and servicing professional broadcast equipment.

  • Ability to follow drawings/schematics and other technical documents.

  • Ability to use small hand tools effectively, including soldering tools.

  • Strong knowledge of audio/video technologies, both digital and analog, SD and HD

  • Strong knowledge of video and audio compression technology (MPEG, Dolby E, Dolby AC-3, WM9, etc…) preferred.

  • Working knowledge of data network, data communications, computer systems and equipment preferred.

  • Ability to use of AutoCAD, Visio, MS Project, MS office suite applications.

  • Ability to work as part of a team in a collegial fashion.

  • Associate’s degree in engineering and/or equivalent industry experience.

  • Ability to work flexible hours in a 24/7 environment.

Temporary Maintenance Engineer

Priority Production Services (PPS) is the managing company for the technical operations and
facility personnel at the UN. Priority Production Services is seeking an experienced, skilled
broadcast maintenance engineer for temporary employment at the United Nation’s
Broadcast/Conferencing Radio and Television Facilities. This position will require significant,
diverse experience in installation and maintenance of modern digital production equipment,
conferencing, analog AV and public address system.
 

Skills:
• Must demonstrate knowledge of basic signal workflow
• Experience with creating and interpreting system documentation
• Strong written and verbal skills
• Must be able to work under the pressure of a timeline, and capable of multitasking
• Must have organized trouble shooting skills for the purpose of installing and
maintaining equipment
o NLE editing systems,
o graphics systems,
o video switchers,
o routers,
o servers,
o various tape recorder formats,
o studio equipment,
o camera control system and camera robotics,
o audio mixers,
o Polycom video conferencing systems
o Brahler and Bosch conferencing systems
o Fiber optics
o CATV
 

• Must have excellent IT networking skills, including hands on experience with
broadcast computer networks (BLAN), and Cisco LAN switches. Comp TIA Network
or MCSE certificate is beneficial.
 

• AutoCAD and knowledge of current Microsoft operating systems is expected.
The appropriate candidate will have the ability to work a varied schedule including early
mornings, nights and weekends as necessary, while being a team member with good people
skills. The candidate is expected to have at least five (5) years experience in related jobs. Salary
level is dependent on level of proficiency and experience, as to where candidate places on
predetermined levels of the Union’s “escalator” of wages.

Broadcast Engineer, Citadel Broadcasting Radio Networks Engineering - NYC

Description:  Citadel Media is looking for a motivated, highly organized Broadcast Engineering generalist to contribute to the success of our team and our Company.

The successful candidate will work with Engineering management in a 24x7x365 broadcast operations environment working with a mix of software-based systems, traditional broadcast hardware, telecom systems, satellite and internet transmission systems. Requires technical data entry and thorough knowledge of broadcast systems to facilitate configuration of backhaul and transmission using various audio and data transmission platforms. The ideal candidate should be competent in both broadcast and I.T. environments and must be a self-starting and detail-oriented professional.

Reports to Director, Technical Operations.

Responsibilities

1. Manages resources of XDS distribution system to meet needs of Company and Client transmission services.

2.  Determines requirements and plans the design and technical implementation of new and established programs for internal and external customers.  Includes all aspects of the program from backhaul to distribution set-up and satellite head end routing.

3.  Organizes the necessary in-house resources and outside contractors to assist in completion of specific customer backhaul and transmission requirements.  Documents technical and operational details for reference

4. Transforms client requirements and technical design into operational broadcast systems and procedures.

5.  Develops and implements preventive and corrective maintenance for overall Operational systems.

6.  Assists in evaluation of new technologies to be used in current and future applications.

7.  Coordinates equipment installation, travels to satellite uplink facility as required.  Work may occasionally include night and weekend hours.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Freelance (Per Diem) IT Support Technician

 CBS Sports is currently seeking a self-motivated IT Support Technician to join our

Information Systems & Technology department on a freelance, per diem, basis. This

position provides support Saturday and Sunday’s between the approximate hours of

9AM and 7PM from August through April in support of the CBS Networks’ Sports studio

and its’ related broadcast IT infrastructure. Travel to major sporting events such as the

AFC Championship, Final Four, US Open, and Super Bowl might also be requested if

availability permits.

 We service approximately 150 broadcast related computers running Windows XP and

Apple OSX and are responsible for supporting up to 13 crews working in the field each

weekend to produce live event coverage. Our ideal candidate will be eager to maximize

this opportunity to work with our growing array of state-of-the-art hardware and software

technologies.

 Job Responsibilities

· Provide tier-one technical support and guidance to internal and remote users;

· Escalate complex technical issues to appropriate internal resources;

· Monitor various network applications and servers while the studio is on-air;

· Provide data entry when required to update information contained within

proprietary databases.

· Deploy patches and upgrades to network hardware and software;

· Troubleshoot and develop solutions to hardware and software configuration

errors;

· Troubleshoot computer peripherals;

· Deploy, repair, and maintain client machines;

· Occasionally contribute to off-hours systems maintenance;

· Perform other duties as assigned;

 Candidate Requirements

· Ability to independently travel to and from midtown Manhattan reliably and on

time, regardless of weather or other circumstances, on weekends and during

non-peak hours;

· Associate’s degree or better in an IT related discipline with 0-2 years of

experience;

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications;

· Proficient in Windows XP and Windows Vista;

· Effective written and verbal communication skills;

· Experience with troubleshooting computer hardware;

· Knowledge and understanding of Active Directory;

· Must be able to lift and carry objects of up to 70lbs in weight;
